KIRSTI LONKA, SUVI-KRISTA WESTLING AND MINNA BERG // DAY 2

  • FINNISH 21ST CENTURY SKILLS

What are Finnish 21st Century Skills, how can they be defined? Why are they seen so important as future skills that they have become a remarkable part of the Finnish National Curricula?

This workshop will not only answer to these questions but also introduce an assessment tool which helps teachers, headmasters and school administrators evaluate how to plan teaching according to the 21 century skills and what improvements can be made in the school community for implementing these skills to the instruction. The aim is that with support of the assessment tool, schools can find solutions to share the responsibilities among the teachers, improve teacher collaboration and enable more co-teaching possibilities - all this made for a purpose to make learning 21st Century competences to be an innate part of everyday school life.

HEIDI LAMMASSAARI & JUHO MAKKONEN // DAY 1

  • ENGAGING LEARNING IN A BLENDED LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

The Economic Information Office (TAT) has prepared an advanced pedagogical script for its digital business courses for upper secondary education.  The pedagogical is based on the engaging learning model by Kirsti Lonka and has gained much credit during the last two semesters from teachers, students and other learning specialists. In September 2017 the business courses got the KOKOA Standart certificate with top scores for its pedagogical design.

In this workshop the engaging pedagogical script is revealed step by step and participants have the possibility to interact with the course content at the price-winning Claned digital learning environment. The aim of the workshop is to demonstrate how engaging technology-mediated learning content can be created based on a contemporary pedagogical script.

    LAURI VAARA // DAY 2

  • PHENOMENON BASED LEARNING

In Phenomenon based teaching the aim is to avoid boundaries set by different subjects and that way form an understanding of a phenomenon avoiding decontextualization. In this workshop we teach how to teach in phenomenon based way. The workshop covers different age groups. The aim is to learn how to conduct a phenomenon based project, how to teach co-operation and collaboration necessary for successful outcome in the quality of  learning and how to assess the learning process instead of assessing only the final products.

    MINNA BERG // DAY 1

  • OPTIONAL WORKSHOP IN CHINESE!
